It was a surprisingly cool and overcast afternoon, made even more memorable by the company of three Texas Supreme Court justices—all impressive statesmen and jurists.
To me, statesmanship in the law begins with recognizing that the privilege to practice is both an honor and a public trust. People turn to lawyers during some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their lives—after injury, loss, injustice, or accusation—and place their trust and their futures in our hands. Serving them with courage, compassion, sound judgment, and integrity is one of the greatest honors of our profession.
I left inspired.

In case you are wondering: I filed suit against Exxon some time back. Their counsel was professional.
Exxon agreed to take out their pumps an and tanks and pay for it as well.

And in case you are wondering: The report was clean and clear. No contaminants anywhere. A big win for the community. Thats why we used a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality certified tank company to remove the equipment. Having a local attorney was a big win for the community.
